How To Get Abs Quickly

December 21st, 2008 by Dan Solaris

For countless fitness aficionados sweating it out at fitness gyms everywhere, developing great looking abdominals can be extremely frustrating. People trying to trim down and get a washboard stomach discover that belly fat is usually the most stubborn to eliminate. The reason for this is because our bodies have a tendency to accumulate fat around the thighs, buttocks, and stomach.

A very small percentage of guys that hit the gym start pumping iron just to get big. An overwhelming majority want to get buffed AND lean. At least lean enough that their muscles (especially in the abs) are well-defined and visible. The time it takes to accomplish getting visible muscles and a shredded midsection can be overwhelmingly long because of our physiology however. Certainly one can’t have a beach body six-pack in a month’s time.

Having basic knowledge on our metabolism- which exercises and foods increase and decrease its process can help in figuring out how to get abs that look great. It can significantly shorten the hours logged in the gym and lengthen quality time with the family or the less strenuous activities in our lives.

Knowing what to eat and which ab exercises to do won’t give you instant effects of course, but being informed about what you’re doing would take far less time to get a shredded gut than if you went about pumping iron blindly and gulping down water and crackers for your meals.

The quickest path to great looking abs requires eating properly. Not just eating healthier food, but eating at the proper times also. Skipping meals won’t do it as this can actually slow metabolism, and that means less belly fat burned. Snack fiends, rejoice!

Substituting you usual chip-n-dip with nutritious nuts and fruits can be effective in fighting flab. Nuts are rich in fat-busting omega-3s and high in muscle-building protein. Proper scheduling of your intake of carbs and meat protein can also boost your workouts and speed-up muscle formation.

A proper program for getting six-pack abs would be impossible without the right exercises of course. Muscle building will increase metabolism as will cardiovascular exercise that keeps the heart at the anaerobic threshold (AT) rate for at least 20 minutes. Experts say this is ideal for letting the body source most of the energy spent from body fat rather than from carbohydrates or glycogen.

Lastly- letting your muscles rest a day after working them out gives them time to toughen-up and get ready for the next onslaught. Over-training muscles will most often result in waste of time and effort and, even worse- injury.

Lower Ab Exercises For Women

December 20th, 2008 by Dan Solaris

As any fitness buff can attest to, working on the abdominals can be the most difficult part of the body to work on. When trying to burn excess fat through a weight-loss program, belly fat is usually the last to go. Frustration is so great sometimes that people even give-up going to the gym altogether.

It’s the human body’s natural tendency to store excess calories in the form of body fat mostly around our bellies and thighs. Having visible flab on one’s physique can be quite undesirable for most folks. Henceforth, trimming-down and toning-up are the main reason professional models, actors, office-workers, and even housewives hit the gym.

Because exercise programs in the gym by nature are repetitive and quite monotonous, it’s quite easy to get bored with one’s workouts. Abdominal exercises compounds that problem because though the stomach muscles are getting developed, it doesn’t seem like your getting anywhere because of the belly fat which is usually packed around the lower abdomen.

The lack of visible progress in terms of forming a six-pack is a major source of consternation for fitness buffs since time immemorial and lower ab muscles are usually the last to appear. It would make sense then for some people to do exercises that target the lower abs.

Isolating the lower part of the rectus abdominus by trying to target the lower abs is quite impossible because it’s really all one single muscle. There are lower ab exercises however that put more stress on that area: air-pedaling while on one’s back, vertical and horizontal leg raises, and different versions of such.

The monotonous nature of repetitions and seemingly slower progress developing the lower abs make it a challenge to keep working regularly. This can be remedied by either working-out with a partner, using alternative devices like a medicine ball, or switching to a different type of lower ab exercise every now and then.

Muscle tissue stops growing when it adapts to a specific type of movement. Changing your lower ab exercise routine once you feel like you’ve hit a plateau will help you reach your goal of getting a six-pack a little faster.

Making it a point to have fun in doing lower ab exercises will enable you to keep hitting the gym and avoid the corner pub after work. Consistency is key and this will ultimately bring you a chiseled six pack faster.

Girls With Abs Reveal All

December 19th, 2008 by Dan Solaris

There was a time when being voluptuous and leggy defined sexiness for women. Only men had six-packs and body-building for women were virtually unheard of. We’re in a different era now- a time where women orbit the earth as astronauts and drive Formula 1 race cars alongside men.

Times change, tastes change and people follow a different gauge for sexiness now. Today, what’s good on boys can easily look good on girls and lean, well-defined abs is a prime example.

The image of the Monroe-esque figure painted on the fuselages of WWII warplanes has been replaced by the internet-savvy, corporate chick who rushes-off to the gym after work to work on her figure.

Contrary to what most people think, the workout regimen for women who have six pack abs is actually the same as the ab exercise program for men. In short, girls with abs lift like guys with abs.

Because it’s not possible to spot-reduce belly fat, the only way to expose those glorious abdominal muscles underneath is to avoid fatty food and burn-off excess body fat through a slew of fat-busting exercises.

There’s actually little difference in the skeletal muscle of men and women. Consequently, exercises and food intake for effective muscle-building and fat-loss for both sexes are the same. It’s common-sense, really- burn belly fat, reveal the abs.

The quickest path to flat, washboard abs is by doing exercises that burn fat effectively and including fat-busting food in your diet. There are citrus fruits that actually render fat easier to break down and thus shorten your time in the gym.

Lifting weights builds muscle and since muscle tissue burns calories (even while immobile), the more of it we have, the easier it would be for our bodies to avoid storing fat from excess calories. Our metabolism goes up, the more calories we burn and this inadvertently means the less effort we have to exert in our workouts. Weight lifting and exercises that burn belly-fat effectively are universal- it’s the same for both guys and girls.

Weight Loss From Your Abs

December 17th, 2008 by David Moore

There are many individuals who are unhappy with their body. Most often it is their weight that has them particularly frustrated. The majority of these individuals want to reduce the amount of fat in their abdominal area. However, you cannot achieve abdominal fat loss in a short amount of time.

In order to successfully lose weight you will engage in a diet and exercise plan. Abdominal fat loss works the same way. When you are committed to losing your excess weight you can do this best by watching what you eat and working it off with exercise.

Although any exercise will contribute to your weight loss, certain types of exercises prove to be better for losing weight in your abdominal region in particular. You would think that doing abdominal exercises would be ideal for losing fat in your abs; but that is not necessarily the case.

Abdominal exercises are great for toning your abs and building muscle in them. However, they will not make you lose the fat in you abs.

If you really want to lose the fat in your abs and not just tone and build muscle in them, then your best bet is to engage in aerobic exercise. Aerobic exercise is the best form of exercise for anyone who is looking to lose weight.

Aerobic exercises are most effective when they are done at 20 minute intervals, at least three days per week. However, once you have been doing them for awhile, you can increase the amount of minutes you do aerobic exercise to improve your stamina.

In addition to doing aerobic exercises, you also have to be conscious of the types of foods you are consuming. In other words, if you work your butt off doing aerobic exercises for 20 minutes a day, three days a week, and then eat a high calorie, sugary donut or some other high calorie snack then all of that working out will have been a waste. Some indulgence is acceptable, but be wary of what you’re eating for it might just go straight to your abdominal region.

When you are serious about abdominal fat loss you will eat properly and get your exercise. After a while you will begin to notice your abs appear and you will be thrilled with the results.

Gym Workout Programs, How to get a Solid Chest

December 16th, 2008 by Ricardo d Argence

When building muscles for your chest you need to be aware of the common pitfalls and misconceptions out there. To achieve the famed chiselled look in the pectorals, or in any part of the body, it takes disciplined work. Some body builders think the most efficient way to achieve this goal is through bench presses. One exercise alone can not obtain real definition in the pectoral muscles.

If you do these easy weight workouts, you can create an attractive and well-built chest.

High and Low Cable crossover are perfect to begin. High Cable crossover will work the difficult to reach inner Pecs. Low Cable crossovers, is another inner pec exercise, the key is the correct amount of tension.

Bench press-Wide grip, your wide spaced handling will work the lower pectoral. Bench press-Close grip, this will work the inner Pecs quite well, however the movement will also work triceps and upper chest.

Dumbbell Flyers works the inner pectoral muscles but you really have to squeeze them together. Alternate this on incline, decline, and flat bench. Dips, depending on elbow position, you can work either the inner or the outer Pecs.

These are examples of good chest muscle exercises, changing your workout around will lessen the chance of hitting a plateau. Its important to understand that both nutrition and rest are important.

When you are building muscle, nutrition is as important as weight lifting. When you lift weights, you are actually tearing muscle tissue. To repair the muscle and thereby make it larger your body requires protein and complex carbohydrates. It is also a good idea to increase your vitamin and mineral intake.

Water is also important for any workout routine. The human body needs water to provide nutrients to the cells, process waste, and keep the internal body temperature regulated. Along with all of these, water acts as a cushion for the joints and offers protection for the important internal organs. It is important to increase your daily fluid intake, as intensive workouts can easily deplete vital fluid levels.

Equally important to a good body building is getting the correct amount of rest. Some product marketers have pushed the idea that sleep is detrimental to muscle building, claiming that a catabolic happening can occur while sleeping. This is where the muscle wastes away, however, this is a false claim by marketers wanting to sell their product. Not only is this an outright lie, it can lead to serious repercussions both mentally and physically.

Sleep is your body’s way of regenerating and healing itself, without sleep your muscles will not heal properly and all your work will have been for nothing. Not to mention the fact that you will be fatigued and enable to complete future training sessions.

You will be able to create muscle tissue swiftly and obtain the firm chest you’ve constantly desired by bringing each of the preceding elements together. To make the most of your body building workouts, make sure to eat healthy, switch up your routine and provide your body with plenty of quality sleep.
